| I first want to say: this image is misleading. Bush never directly quoted Hitler (at least, not that I've been able to find yet) except for the phrase, "protect the homeland". But the fact remains....when I first read this, I didn't even bat an eye. I can hear Bush saying this. I can hear his supporters rallying around it, and using it to pass even more bills like the Patriot Act and the Protect America Act.

| For now, I may forego the political snarkiness I usually post. I'm still sort-of a politically active Newsviner, and I still get in rather heated debates in the course of my life, but between jobs (soon to be 2) and classes (for real estate, of all things...how did I get into this mess?), this blog will, for the time being, go slowly between occasional political rants and typical life-posts. I should also mention I busted my laptop...well, at least partially, the harddrive and motherboard are fine, but the LCD may be beyond repair, so I'm limited to the old n busted family desktop.
So...life in Ohio. While its great to be home (and its the only way I could afford classes), sleeping on a futon in the family room, where I can hear all three dogs, AND my dad snore, is less than ideal. I certainly can't gripe too much, as I'm living rent-free. I work a long day at Bear Creek, where my title is technically senior clerk, but I am usually arguing at the top of my lungs with forklift drivers and material handlers, or using my entire body to pull a pallet that easily weighs over a ton. I can't complain too much about this either; as stressful as it sometimes gets, and as sore as I am when I get home, its a good job. And my real estate classes; I have great teachers, and I've learned a lot. My mother just yesterday got her real estate license; we hope to be in business together by February.
I hope to get a second job soon; just a parttime weekend/evening job to fill in the gaps in my current income, as Bear Creek doesn't have the best-paying positions around. That will likely be my task this week in my free time.
While I know I've never mentioned my 'beau' on here before, I'm going to ask you all to cross your fingers for him this week, as we're praying a company we're dying for him to work at offers him a job, not only giving him a rather large salary jump, but also moving him from Illinois to Ohio.
Other than that, I am definitely staying current in news and events,
spending time with horses, riding on fourwheelers, and thoroughly
enjoying every fall day while it lasts, because all us midwesterners
know we have precious few days of true fall weather before things get
nasty.
My best friend, and roommate of four years, found the love of her life during a summer trip in Mexico, and moved to Mexico City last week. As if being 8 hours apart wasn't enough, I now feel like I've really lost her. I don't make real, to-the-end friends very often. Facing the prospect of rebuilding in Ohio with a new career and virtually nobody besides coworkers in my day-to-day life...well, it's a little daunting.
Here's to taking a sharp, cold plunge, my friends.

| So.............. AN UPDATE! Well, sorta. I know I havent been around in ages to lurk on your pages and leave snarky comments while posting insiduous leftist liberal moonbat theories. I've been so busy that my online life got limited to a rushed email checking everyday. I've moved to Ohio, to be with my family. As some of you know, one of my family members is sick, which is in large part why I moved across a few states to be here. Of course, when you're a person like me that lives paycheck to paycheck, moving can be very difficult, and this wasn't any exception. I think in a couple of weeks, I'll be more stabilized here, and maybe have a bit more free time again. I've missed all (or most!) of you...your writings, your ramblings, and our discussions. I'll be back, I promise. | | |

[note that...being a public speaker...and being there was no real debate in this debate...I'm autopsying the performances]
IMHO, there was no clear "winner" of this debate. Brian Williams did a
good job of not pitching any softballs, either. Some are going to
complain some questions were pointless, but from a debater's
standpoint, this was great because it didn't allow them to keep falling back on old rehearsed lines.
Granted, if you want really want me to name one, I'll say Obama. He's one of the few politicians that I can stomach giving a speech (though, can I say...what the hell was up with his down home sound tonight? Even I don't drop that many g's, and I was raised in a cornfield).
Not one of those politicians can walk out tonight saying they were the
victor; but they did all have their strong points tonight. They were
good performers tonight, and no one goofed up much. They did a lot of
focusing around criticism of the Iraq war and Bush's handling; which,
if nothing else, at least gives Democrats a united front for once.
I still hafta say, though: Why is Chris Dodd in this race? I really
don't see what he brings to the table here at all, and I'm not sure if
even he knows. He seems like a nice guy; but he's going nowhere fast.
Richardson, while better prepared than Dodd, is classed along with him.
He didn't stand out, he didn't speak up.
Mike Gravel - what a hoot! I do like him, but I don't want him as
President. He's doesn't have a chance in hell, but he was on fire a bit
tonight. Though afterwards, a friend and I wondered if he's not the
nutball who's been tossed in to make the rest look sane?
As much press as Kucinich has gotten because of his introduction of
the Cheney impeachment bill, I don't see him ever becoming President,
and surely not getting the Democratic nod. He looks a lot better, a lot
more presentable this time, and he handled himself really well. He kind
of kicked himself in the head when he lashed out a bit at his fellow
Dems; saying that if they were against the war, they shouldn't be
voting to give it more money. While I can see that with some really
strong anti-war constituents, he just gained a few votes, it may cause
him to lose any backing of his own party.
Someone that surprised me a bit: Biden! His one word reply today (as
to whether he can be a player on a world stage) might be the only thing
I really remember about the debate by next week. I stuck him in third
class a lot lately, but I do think he proved himself enough tonight to
take a "middle class" stance in the running. He's not a
Clinton/Obama/Edwards, but he's certainly no Dodd either.
I was glad to see Edwards address the haircut issue (as stupid as it
is) candidly. I think Edwards is only a few steps above Kucinich; I
don't think he'd make a bad POTUS, but I don't know if he has enough
attitude and stamina to take on the hell 2008 is going to be. He's a
first class candidate, but in third place.
Obama/Clinton: nothing unexpected here. Clinton gave one of her
better performances tonight, and managed to not come off like a shrew.
She sure as hell doesn't have Obama's charisma, and still talks like a
politician, but it was far better tonight. Neither Obama or Clinton got
in any grabs against each other. For all the popularity Obama has
gained, I know he will lose some voters when he clarifies some of his
positions. Granted, if you're a real politics buff, you'dve already
sought out his real positions; but there are a lot of voters and a lot
of people with only a mild interest that were supporting him because
they assumed he matched their stance on everything. When in the debate
he speaks about it publicly, he's going to lose some voters.
Overall, I was pretty happy with the debates. It's nice to watch
speakers with a bit of personality, who don't have to pause every three
words. On Newsvine | | |

Did the most powerful Republicans in America have the computer
capacity, software skills and electronic infrastructure in place on
Election Night 2004 to tamper with the Ohio results to ensure George W.
Bush's re-election?
The answer appears to be yes. There is more than ample
documentation to show that on Election Night 2004, Ohio's "official"
Secretary of State website – which gave the world the presidential
election results – was redirected from an Ohio government server to a
group of servers that contain scores of Republican web sites, including
the secret White House e-mail accounts that have emerged in the scandal
surrounding Attorney General Alberto Gonzales’s firing of eight federal
prosecutors.
We're going to learn quickly, folks, how a dictatorship is created: the beginning? Steal an election.
